Structure
December 27th, 2009
We finished clearing the land and used batter boards to pop strings for the layout of the footers as well as a separate string to map out the stem wall for the masonry crew. Below are a few pictures of digging the footers and pouring the concrete footers. Special thanks to Griswold Concrete, and Hill’s Concrete Boom.

We successfully finished Fill Dirt and brought our good friends from Dan’s Plumbing in to take care of all the plumbing throughout the house. Dan Dan, Bobby G, and Little Dan dug trenches and layed all the plumbing. After they were done, we came back in and repeated the fill dirt process to smoothing out our dirt and getting it perfectly level with the transit. Next we called in Florida Pest Control to do a routine Bug Spray in the dirt and block walls, and then we layed out our plastic sheets to pour our footers on top of. As you can see in the photos below, it was windy and rainy, so we were unable to tape all the seams, so we just used spare cinder blocks to keep the plastic sheets in place. This plastic sheeting is used to keep moisture from coming up from below the footer into the house. With all the proper re-bar in place and all our chalk box lines popped we are ready for slab pouring on Monday!

Here are a few photos of the stem wall going up, on top of the footer. Also pics of the fill dirt process. Enjoy!

Asking for good weather is most important when working with concrete. And good weather couldn’t have come at a better time. The slab went in real nice! Thanks to Precision Concrete and a beautiful sunny day. With a good crew and all the right equipment, they finished out all the slab in the house, porches and garage in 1 day. Check the pics below, and we are currently putting up the block walls, so check back soon!
The Block Walls are officially up! Now you can finally see how big this house is! 10ft ceilings all throughout the house. “The Masonry Team” slammed out all the block work in just under a day and a half. The owners of this house “Bob and Joyce” want to move in quickly, so everyday counts.
